    Plein air | 2015

Taking in the surroundings, having time to watch what is happening. Slowing down. Seeing and learning new situations, people. When a person lives in the same environment, this environment becomes invisible. Therefore, when in a new environment, they see new situations, as well as the familiar ones, which they had experienced daily but somehow overlooked. They escaped them in the rush of the everyday. In the beginning I felt disenchantment, relief, joy and freedom. I wanted to find a theme and work on it. Then I realised that theme would bind me. And all I wanted was freedom. That is what I had (in the form of art residency) and that is what I should fully explore. Plan was clear: walk about, see new things, watch, see and take in everything around me. Or just stand still and watch. Enjoy the compositions, random still lifes and short films that played in front of me on the backdrop of Strasbourg. And make pictures. Situations I caught on camera mean to say more. They are not only found objects. Most of the situations were created by me. Whether found or created compositions, I am always interested mainly in the relationships between the photographed objects. How they work together, complement each other. Their mutual dependency. How one without the other – as they are now – could not exist. These relationships are not specifically defined – as in by names – I leave it up to the viewers to make their own decoding according to their own associations. Plein Air – time spent outside – in new surroundings, in the fresh air. Art residency as a fish that breaks the water surface to catch a bit of air.//////////////////////////////Vnímať prostredie, mať čas sledovať, čo sa okolo deje. Spomaliť. Vidieť a poznať nové situácie, vzťahy. A ja chcem mať voľnosť. To je to, čo som dostal (vo forme rezidencie) a to by som mal aj naplno využiť. Plán bol jasný: Chodiť, spoznávať nové, pozorovať, vidieť a vnímať všetko naokolo. Niekedy ostať stáť a sledovať. A fotografovať.
