a Practiced Place

  • 2015
  • dimensions variable, pencil drawing on drafting film, 2013-2015

  • I documented a place spending more than a week and found movements by tracking shapes of shadows on surface of the place. The work is a reconstructed image of the place by shadows of people, architecture and all objects which once occupied the place.

Each frame has come from the image of Luton in which I spent a year as part of an artist-in-residence programme in University of Bedfordshire. I found movements of people and colours of places varied by time changes, which became the image of the work. Installation of pencil drawings on translucent film and printing and painting on transparent wire penetrate two different frames from the viewer’s perspective. I plan to expand this work by creating of a series of frames that reflects places I investigated. The viewer will be able to walk through the frames to read the images.
