Phantasmagoria : Mardy and the everlasting daisy of Bogong | 2017 - 2018

Bogong, this vanishing village in remote Australia had once marked the alpine region. Built for workers and their families on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme in 1930’s. At its peak 4000 people had lived their life here. After economic turndown in 1960’s, the scheme was close, Bogong become desolation with sparsely populated. Today, those steeped history only exist in one black and white photography book in Mount Beauty school’s library, waiting to be forgotten. Phantasmagoria, re-imagine Bogong through the lens of absence and loss. The site-specific photography base installation combination cover of narrative photography, photography sculpture, land art and poetry. Each photograph come with its own poetic fairytale story that leads back to history of Bogong and installation on site where photograph had been take and where the story once happen to show the blur line and parallel world between the real and the fantastic, the past and the present.
