    Mizení, disappearance | 2013

I chose the theme of Vanishing after reading the thanatological study by the psychologist Kubler-Ross, on the stages of acceptance of one´s mortality in the process of dying. She named the consecutive stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. I decided to create a series of objects according to these stages. Esthetically, I gave the series an industrial touch, so I selected materials related to industrial production. All the aluminium parts of the objects were cast from aluminium scrap material from a number of factories or scrap yards. Most of the objects can be assembled with screws or taken apart easily. In view of the character of my work I tried not to be carried away by the technical nature to the detriment of the overall outcome. I sought out an adequate determining symbol for each stage, and a form to link the objects in a single whole. Trap – Denial, Cage chair – Anger, Scales – Bargaining, Bed press – Depression, Hole – Acceptance. In addition to facts apparent at first sight, it is also important that each of the objects is expected, in one way or another, to confront the human body. Not that the observer should „play“ with the objects (although I do not exclude it), but by its proportions, manner of installation and overal effect. I wanted to achieve a more profound impression through the potential possibility of experiencing the function of the object physically. ..........................................................................................................................................
