For this series I recreated works directly replicated from my fellow students’ practices, both covertly and openly. I wanted to provoke them with questions about authenticity, authorship and identity and at the same time to look at my own motivations and visual language. Inevitably the nature of my personal connection with the artists was reflected on my approach to the works - depending on how far I would get into their space and how attached to the works and subjects I would be. For example, some paintings became very similar to the “borrowed work”; some others only resemble its “original” on its process, form, imagery, etc. The range of paintings and sculptures shown in the installations represents my preferences and gestures in relation to artists, objects, modes of making and arranging them.
