My work poses questions about authorship in the creation of an individual artistic language. I often appropriate artists’ works as a strategy to put myself in a critical position where I deconstruct processes, mediums and languages to primarily reinvent myself.
I use appropriation because that is how I make sense of art and artists. I like to deal with familiar imagery, which has already its inherent meaning, and see what my interventions can cause/produce/make/add/say. Appropriating is commenting on art. Repeating, copying, reproducing are my strategies to affirm those comments.
