In this point it connects in a specific way with another strategy of processing the remains of reality. Monochromatic works by Kokosiński bring to mind a burnt photography. They capture the picture of the word deprived of its image. The gesture of erasing the references, blurring the vision has its roots in the iconoclastic process of destruction. It is a way to distill products of our imagination. It means, at the same time, working with the remains of personal memories. The series of black paintings was created under the impression of the landscapes from the artist’s childhood. They are created by double mediation: reality – picture – painting. Sublimation is achieved by changing the state. It exposes the alchemic potential of Kokosiński’s imagination, in which instead of turning into gold the matter is directed downwards. text: Szymon Maliborski
