Souvenir / Commercial traveler and neighbour /Passagen, 2014 | 2014
'Souvenir' is a wall paper showing a pattern based on one image of the pyramids of Gizeh, Egypt. Although they exist physically in just one place and just one size, tourists and scientists and others made so many photographs of the Pyramids that they somehow exist everywhere in every size. 'Commercial traveler and neighbour' refers to a time where economic structures were still related to travelling and direct human interaction - fabric amongst other goods was one of the very early ones that have travelled the globe. Though ancient commercial travellings have an adventurous atmosphere, more recent commercial travelers rather have the reputation for having strategies of selling things one doesn't want. 'Passage' consists in 5 identical fruit cartons called 'Gaudias" in Latin with an English translation: Fruits of pleasure. Arragend in a row they remind on an ancient colonnade while their commercial indications are signs of today's globalised world.
