ARTIST STATEMENT

As I see, photography is a lonely job. Creating is a lonely thing in a lot of ways.

There is a saying that I heard when I was a child: can’t depend on anyone but yourself. I thought it was true until I found out: I can’t be a loner for a long time. If I need help, I have to do something I was always warned against: trusting people.

It’s similar to psychology. In my opinion, a good photographer is also a psychologist. In particular, we have to be our own psychologist. I go down to the depths of my mind. The camera in my hand helps me with the therapy session. And then I’m also an interpreter. I show the things I cannot say out loud. And I do it gradually. I will only see the next step after the first one.

Photography is my private practice where I am the doctor, the patient and the cure.
