ARTIST STATEMENT

Incorporating images from my sub-consciousness into my art is the main drive in my artistic voyage. Most of my works are records of my thoughts, interest, dreams, trauma and incoherent mixtures of my sub-consciousness. I connect the process of making my work with images in my sub-consciousness, unwelcome involuntary thoughts and sometimes, with momentary catharsis. And the images from these ideas create awkwardness in interpersonal relationships. Sometimes, if any object, subject or any articles sent me into raptures, I become obsessed with that object or subject. Realizing this about myself, it led me to research about it and ends up with bent the theories or facts to suit my own interpretation in dark way. It is like if you don’t want to think about something but it is actually makes you to think about it more and becomes an obsession. My work involved found objects, assemblage, videos, and mixture of analog and digital. From digitally mediated video and still collages to a butt-shaped drum, using ready-made object to a basket of boobs and other video collages. In my videos, there’s a lots of repetition compulsions movement which is one of symptom of trauma. Hence awkwardness, I believe, has become a remedy for individuals in such a schizophrenic time. The awkwardness in social life and the intimate experience of awkward is one of my materials. I connect the process of making my work with images in sub-consciousness, unwelcome involuntary thoughts, trauma and sometimes, with momentary catharsis. My works usually treat issues related to identity, human body, and sexuality. From digitally mediated collages to a butt-shaped drum, my imageries are reminiscent of the original Surrealist movement almost a hundred years ago, but with contemporary significance. Awkwardness,i believe, hence has become the remedy for individuals in such a schizophrenic time.

Sometimes, I am a  patient and my work is Freud.
