ARTIST STATEMENT

Otázka, ktorú si prostredníctvom svojich projektov umelecký kolektív APART neustále kladie, je rola umelca v súčasnosti a polohy umeleckej praxe.  Prehodnocuje ideové rámce inštitúcie a prelínaním kurátorskej a publikačnej činnosti a vizuálnej tvorby skúma ich vzťahy, možnosti a hranice.  Hybridné prepájanie týchto polôh mu umožňuje nové pohľady na pozíciu umenia a umelca v spoločnosti. Kolektivitu ako novú identitu chápe ako alternatívu k politickým systémom nastolenej individualite, ktorú sa snaží spochybniť. Otvára pole pôsobnosti novým entitám, ktoré tieto štruktúry a pomyselné centrum kolektívu nútia k neustálej transformácii a podrobujú reforme.

Pracovaním s témou kolektivity APART cielene odkazuje na historickú tradíciu neoficiálneho umenia 60. a 70. rokov v bývalom Československu a zároveň tak vyjadruje svoju blízkosť k tomuto obdobiu a priznáva jeho vplyv na svoju tvorbu.

The question, which APART constantly asks itself by means of its projects, is the role of the artist in the present times and the place of artistic practice. It re-thinks conceptual frames of an institution and by permeation of curatorial and publishing activity and visual production explores their relations, possibilities and boundaries. Hybrid interconnection of these positions allows it to gain new perspectives on the stand of art and artist in the society. It understands collectivity as a new identity, as an alternative to the notion of individuality established by political system, which it tries to question. It opens the sphere of action to new entities, which force the structures and an abstract center of the collective to undergo constant transformation and reform.

Working with the theme of collectivity, APART specifically refers to the historical tradition of the unofficial art of 60´s and 70´s in the former Czechoslovakia and at the same time expresses its closeness  to this period and admits its influence on collective´s production.
