ARTIST STATEMENT

I demolish and rebuild the contents of Landscape.

I work mainly with painting. Nevertheless I understand painting not only two dimensional and framed picture, but also related closely to space and three dimensional materials and objects. I create installations which take their final form in an exhibition space.

I explore how landscape and its representations reveal the phenomenon and values of each era or experience. I approach the subject, through environmental questions and position of human being, in relationship with the nature and the world. I outline how culture, collective memory and time are engraved in landscape. Therefore I see landscape as ubiquitous social-, time-, and sensescape where perception and interaction with the world occur.

I am interested in similitudes between ever transforming processes of nature, culture and identity. I understand nature as a primary ark about which human being and later culture are ascended from. Due this notion, I comprehend the nature, culture and identity intertwined and embodied parts of the visual landscape tradition.

Besides, I understand art as substance of unfettered human communication; it is no question only of picturing the surrounding view or reality, but rather it is a comprehensive expression and act of being in the world.
