ARTIST STATEMENT

The main focus of Michal Pustějovský is the use of technological, communication and information processes in art. His objects and installations are based on interplay between conceptually conceived configurations of shapes and spatial solutions with “non-material” components – computer programs and information technologies.

The artist creates kinetic objects and interactive environments, apparatuses of their kind able to represent and deliver aesthetic ideas, concepts and emotions. His works are characterized by a high level of intentionality yet still remain open to an individual moment and a unique situation, in which both the artwork and its reception happen. We can find a common operative tendency on different levels of the artist’s array of working methods – to organize the subject matter of the artwork. Hand in hand with organizing, however, an uncertainty develops, which cannot be captured by algorithms and imparts to his artworks a unique character, while offering a very specific immediate experience.
