ARTIST STATEMENT

„Art is restoration: the idea is to repair the damages that are inflicted in life, to make something that is fragmented – which is what fear and anxiety do to a person – into something whole.”
Louise Bourgeois

„I do not believe in the misunderstanding of artist. I believe that art is born in the sad depth of misunderstanding. Teardrop on the face of those who can’t cry. A scream on the lips of the speechless. Boat in which they survive who did not get land.”
Márton Závorszky-Simon

Since my childhood I have had the desire of creation and destruction. These ambivalent feelings have followed throughout my life. I create to avoid destruction. I destroy my creation. I create with destruction.

In my art I research the psychological effects of (childhood) traumas and the possibilities of processing; the right and the wrong way chosen by the individual: creation or destruction.

My New Fields is recurring theme of mine with expanding meaning. Its evolution illustrates the spiritual path of accepting my recurring chronic illness and poisoning family background. The symbolic images of this mental change are the largest pieces of the series – in the image of a burning fields I visualize the hope of a new and more liveable soil. In my opinion art can be the other way to fight with our darkness.

In the series Witches I depicted young women with damaged soul. With transforming the photos I tried to visualize their psychological wounds.
