ARTIST STATEMENT

Moje maliarstvo        

            Zaujímavé na mojej práci a rôznych projektoch nie sú až tak samotné výsledky, ale následný odstup od prác - hlavne časový. Na prvý pohľad môže moja tvorba pôsobiť neucelene. Venujem sa vskutku rôznorodým médiám, postupom, technikám. Je pre mňa takisto zaujímavé sledovať vývoj - proces vzniku z počiatočného chaosu - ktorým sa moje práce uberajú. Pokúšam sa vyhnúť určitému opakovaniu foriem a tém, ktoré ma úprimne desí. Jednoducho si nemienim vytvoriť vlastnú manieru, formalizmus či akademizmus - značku svojej práce. Avšak to, čo ma na jednej strane určuje a prináša mi isté vnútorné výhody - experimentátorstvo, hra, hľadanie hraníc seba/materiálu/tvorby/procesu, je aj mojou veľkou nevýhodou. Nefungujem pod žiadnou nálepkou! Nie som videoartista, nie som sochár, maliar, multimediálny umelec...Som LEN ten, čo robí inak. Napriek tomu, čím sa moja práca môže javiť, som stále vnútorne presvedčený, že je to cesta maliara. Alebo maliarstva - inak. Prednedávnom som mal intenzívny pocit, že ma moja doterajšia práca vedie a smeruje viac k „tradičnej“ práci na obraze. Že potrebujem hľadať a nachádzať akési miesto pokoja. Na túto vnútornú výzvu som reagoval ostatnou samostatnou výstavou s názvom MORE pokoja. Uvedomil som si svoje miesto pozorovateľa a následne som pri práci na obraze využil odpozorované drobné detaily, ktoré ma zaujímajú. Priznávam, je to zatiaľ ešte len teoretická rovina a hlavne osobné odhodlanie prepadnúť maľbe. Ako som písal, moja cesta je cestou maliarstva inak a sám neviem, ako sa bude vyvíjať ďalej a kedy nastane jej vyvrcholenie.

My art

           The interesting thing about my work and various projects are not the results themselves but rather a subsequent distance, in time in particular. At first glance, my work might seem fragmented and inconsistent. This is because I use numerous media, methods and techniques. It is very interesting to watch the development – the process of creation a work out of the initial chaos – and the direction my works consequently take. I genuinely try to avoid repetition of certain forms and themes, that frankly scares me. I do not intend to make my own brand, formal or academic distinctive feature. On the other hand, what determines my work and brings some benefits, which is experimentation, game, searching limits of myself/material/creation/process is my great disadvantage, too. I do not work under any label! I am neither a video artist nor a sculptor, a painter, or a multimedia artist... I am just the one that works in a different way. Despite what my work may seem, I am still genuinely convinced that I am following the path of the painter. Or painting. Recently I have had an intense feeling that my previous work leads me towards the more traditional painting, which means that I try to seek and find the point of peace. This inner calling resulted in a solo exhibition titled THE SEA OF TRANQUILITY. I realized my place as an observer which consequently brought me to using small observed details of my interest. I admit this creative approach is still on the theoretical level and mainly my pesronal determination and commitment to painting itself. As stated before, my way is the way of painting and I still do not know how it is going to develop further as well as when its climax comes.
