ARTIST STATEMENT

MY WORK

Creativity is sacred. I do not think it is important if a creative person graduated from some art faculty or not. Some are gifted with creativity for a reason and we should just respect that. But one should create with humility. Despite the important role of intuition in my creativity, I believe that it is important to think while doing anything. It is not about knowing or being well-read, but to simply think and contemplate. And to be able to denounce one´s thoughts at the right time.

I see a spiritual aspect to everything, even outside the realm of art, as it covers the whole being. But what I am most interested in is what concerns being a human. The present. How spirituality is mutated by nowadays existence. I have been gifted with creativity, meaning that what I experience is also my own art. My actions mould the synchronistic protocol of life and I give it a shape that is legible for others.

KONTEXT

The fundamental message of such art is to open oneself. Artists usually have the gift of being open and thus I aim at those who lack such gift. But not even artists are spared from biased perception of reality. Their bane lies in the need to be original and not to repeat what has been already created. I avoid that with all my strength. To derail the forces of evolution and to prefer the experience of repetition to power of ego, that is one of the reasons why I do not try to overcome works of art that have been made before. The repeated action (no matter if done consciously or not) has its merit for each particular personality that experiences it in a different context.

INSPIRATION

With several of my works I have intentionally avoided doing research on a topic in question in order to steer clear from tendency of repeating routine methods. My aim was to approach the topics in the purest way, within the framework of my own existence, without making claim to innovativeness. In other cases, the research was necessary in order to be able to deny reality in an effective manner. If I find any personalities inspiring, then, with the exception of Alejandro Jodorowsky, they are no artists but empirical scientists like Carl Gustav Jung, Joseph Campbell, Oliver Sachs and others. Their works are capable of opening people without dogmatising. And while studying art I could not avoid glorious examples of humility in creation. One example for all being the life and works of Tehching Hsieh.

METHODS

I do not focus on a single medium. But even though the film is the most effective to make audience, that I wish to “open”, to “understand”, I do not shy from using other forms at all. I do not get painting, therefore I paint in the dark. Artists often scorn kitsch and so I offer pathos in an extreme form. A concept experienced in absolute joy. Intellectual constructions turned upside down. Cooperation is magic. Art is sacred. Essence found in humour. Frustration that motivates.

FUTURE DIALOGUE

I do not seek topics for creation, they come with the life I live. When I receive a vision which I wish to fulfil, I do not ask if it is possible but instead: How am I going to do it? And then I do it. True, I am writing this text because of the artistic competition of Jindřich Chalupecký Award but I no longer have the will to maintain the intellectual facade. To be honest: I find the questions here to be very superficial and the one that reeked of egoism the most was: What do you consider to be the most powerful about your art? Look... come to any of my events and join me if you want. I look forward to you.
