ARTIST STATEMENT

My artistic practice combines a wide range of methodologies looking at the economy of (artist) work, the everyday life, the ideologies embodied in public space and it's use.

In my recent practice I have developed installations combining found and built objects, photographs, video and text, showing documentation of concrete, physical labour as a methodological and formal analysis of the opposite, the immaterial, zombified sides of work, I have looked at 'creative' practices seeking for abolishment of work in the recent history or the phenomenon of 'branding' of culture and creativity as a medium in itself.

In regard to public space, my research is an ongoing practical exploration of the symbols that embody the power structures and mark public places and the effects the awakening or tackling of a role and function of a site can have, once its power structures are disturbed. 

BIOGRAPHY

Luiza Margan is a visual artist born in Rijeka Croatia. Lives in Vienna and Rijeka.

Finsihed the Academy of Fine Arts, Performative Arts and Sculpture in Vienna in 2013.
