"Light is not tangible nor material, it cannot be touched. Karolien Chromiak knows this and has been dealing with such impossibility in her artistic practice. Instead of focusing on light itself and its ontological inadequacies, which would most likely prove ineffective, Chromiak works with, and through, the use of light sensitive media. Her works, which can take a variety of forms, from video to installation and from photography to sculpture, are not necessarily about visual representation, or documentation of an outside world. Instead, they try to deal with the way in which light behaves and how it affects one's perception."
