ARTIST STATEMENT

Concrete, glass and stainless steel are the materials which still inspires me, without ever I used them in my works. I find in them this confrontation and conflict in the world which I do not seek, and I'm just addicted to. My personal perspective facing the people, circumstances and "beautiful" prisons in which we live.

The words ‘close’/’open’, ‘win’/’lose’, ‘entrance’/’exit’, ‘office’/’home’ are those contrasts that already have the same values. Living in time where the prestige is nothing than a site on internet with many ‘likes’. That circle constantly changed direction and meaning and fashion does not even exist.

Everything seems to be reversed. Light is gloomy, peace is tense, pressure is authority. Searching in what’s been found, cravings in the rejections. The abandoned are happy.

I’m Kaliya Kalacheva. I’m an architect by soul and painter by nature. Attached to both lines and colors, I like being the immediate participant, a voyeur to every landscape, story or idea.

Always traveling literally and physically always in search of something. The most creative condition is losing myself or, rather, not finding myself – the constant state of being in quest of something. When questions arise there are conflicts, there is unease. By asking a lot of questions ideas are born, answers come and other conditions emerge with which I could experiment once again – willingly or not. The more I get further away, the more I get closer to unknown sides of my own abilities. The birth of the next subject might be caused by devastating anger but it might as well be caused by absolute inner harmony.
