ARTIST STATEMENT

Vo svojej tvorbe sa snažím riešiť príbeh - príbeh človeka, ľudí, vzťahy medzi nimi. Či je to smútok, radosť, istý konflikt, samota, pohyb. Pri viacfigurálnych kompozíciách volím väčší monumentálny formát. Pracujem s klasickou technikou – olej na plátne, pretože je mi výtvarne najbližšia. Svoje námety rozpracovávam v obrazových sériách - spoločenské námety, séria portrétov mamy, séria kolobehov, prístavov. V druhej maliarskej línii, v maľbe prostredia sa snažím uchopiť čas, v symboloch ako sú pre mňa prístav, kolobeh svetla, duchovna. To isté som sa snažil vyjadriť aj v portrétoch mamy pred smrťou. Vo figurálnych kompozíciách dávam dôraz na isté duchovné napätie, ako napr. v obraze Rodina. Ležiaci muž vo vani a tiene anonymných ľudí. Chcel som namaľovať psychologický dialóg medzi členmi rodiny. Stalo sa mu niečo? Leží tam len tak? V maliarskej práci dávam dôraz na farbu a na prácu svetla a tieňa. V kompozíciách zobrazujem viacero príbehov, od aktívnej snahy až po nezáujem o čokoľvek čo sa deje mimo nás.

In my artwork I’m trying to analyze the story - story of a man, people, and the relations between them. It doesn’t matter if it is sadness, joy, conflict, solitude, movement. For multi figural compositions I choose bigger, monumental format. I’m using the classic technique - oil on canvas, because it’s corresponds with my art feeling mostly. Themes of my paintings can be grouped into several series: social themes, pictures of mother, series of cycles, seaports. In the second line of my artwork I’m trying to catch the time spirit in symbols like seaports, cycles of sunlight and spirituality. I tried to express the same thing in the portraits of my mother before her death. In figural compositions I’m paying attention some spiritual tension, as for example in the painting “Family”. Man lying in the bathtub and shadows of anonymous people. I wanted to paint the psychologic dialog between the members of the family. Does something happen to him? Is he lying there just like that without any reason? In the painting work I’m accentuating the color and the work with light and shadow. In compositions I’m showing several stories, from active effort until absolute disinterest about everything what is happening outside of our area.
