ARTIST STATEMENT

Itamar Inbar // איתמר ענבר
With visuals I can tell everyone what I can not say to anyone.

My artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. It raises questions about the complex relationship between the individual and his surroundings. I deconstruct terms like Identity, homeland, freedom, memories and moral. Constructing them into artworks that are concept base but aimed to provoke emotions.

Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media; objects, drawings, video, sound, motors or any other relevant materials. This assemblage of ideas and materials is integrated into to clean aesthetic, site-specific installation.

Installation is the only medium of art that can surprise me repeatedly in the way I look, move and experience my artwork. Curiosity to experience new materials, techniques and the desire of understanding myself and the community surrounding me are what keeping me going. During the research and production, new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.

I am Living and working At Tel Aviv and Berlin, Holding a BFA from Shenkar College, Israel. A member of the Israeli art collective "Anti Mehikon" (Anti Eraser) - AntiMehikon.com
