ARTIST STATEMENT

Photography for me is a way of looking at the world around me in a different way. It’s like discovering the world over and over again, if we look closely there are always new or different things to discover.

Analogue photography slows me down, I try to create a certain stillness in the images which leaves space for visual details that emphasize the beauty of the, at first sight, ordinary subjects. I have always been fascinated with the little things in life, this is a returning subject in most of my series.

Photographing creates a visual consciousness for me, in which I unconsciously look for moments that depict something estranged or surrealistic, like in dreams, to create a new reality.  With the surrealistic approach in my work I am trying to search for the limits of the impossible. When I was younger I dreamed about freezing time, this dream, is in a way, achievable with photography.
