Hyunmin Ryu Artist Statement

I am curious in some kind feeling like loss of human beings who has been frustrated to face the reality in due course of pursing their ideal. They are some kinds of moments of response that face the constraints, distance between the ideals and the realities, when the human have sense to feel the ideals but it can be soon realised that they are destined to be constrained in the reality.

The concept was originated in my personal experiences that accompanied personalised in due course of interpretations. Given theme I was discovered in the moments when I was doing such childish plays with my childhood friends, which now led motivation for me to drive this task of art.

It may appear such timid things such meaningless, but it is importantly embedded the meanings of controversial reactions. That is per se as of resistant expression that human beings choose meaningless actions against the perspective of systemic orders, whereby eventually then deliver themselves to express as impotent, imperfect, defected as humble human beings. That is as well as deemed witty for themselves that try to entertain as absurd plays in order to reject the paradigms of effective, evolutional, pragmatically, although their timid plays ended in vain. Given the sense, the piece of art attempts to remind the nature of impotent, imperfect subjects of art, attribution to reduce the authoritative of artist.

For this job, my interests are focused to showcase impotence, loss, frustrations and so forth of kinds. Literally this was expressed three ways in my pieces.

First is the concept of human being. In my piece of work, human being set up metaphysics as of universal one, whereas illustrate creatures continuously seeking perfect ideas at the same time retains controversial imperfection of absolute impotent.

Second is personalised method to communication. This is approach to the communication of ordinary peoples, which allows private place to reflect the spectator as ordinary people in everyday lives faces countless failures. To deliver the messages, the piece of art delineates the nature of imperfection by repeating illustrated imperfections from the ideal model of art works. Given the course of dialogues, the pieces of art including compose presenting themselves in the lower position, which helps the spectators keep raising doubts on the ideal model of art.

Finally, my artistic expression attributes ambivalent position to conceptual artistic trends which consisted of 1960s and 70s. My response poses dialectical relations on their art; one is admirable accord to conceptual artistic movements that pave the new ways of expressing the arts. On the other hand concerns their failure so that adopted too much utopian approach to express immateriality and to challenge the authority. Those two kinds attribute me to posit ambivalent relations to their arts, which are addressed imperfections.

Although given pieces of works should have destined to express the failures on the reality from the ideal, however, my works continuously reveal the other side of imperfections by repeating questions. Even if my pieces of art works assumed to end up the failures, my trial keeps asking. Maybe I expect something magical or transcendence.
