ARTIST STATEMENT

The majority of my works operate with shapes, components known to everyone. Objects and living creatures function as words that change their meanings and form new sentences whenever placed in a new environment or paired with other objects and proportions. My sentences talk of simple feelings, changes and eternities, but these stories mainly remain open, giving a chance to free interpretations. New topics create new connections of forms, therefore there are few series in my works, however inherited characteristics can be observed.
................

It was during my university studies that I started to let my sculptures be influenced by toys and everyday objects. My goal was to emphasize a given object by placing it in a created atmosphere and recreating it by means of wood. These works are so called object portraits, memorials of everyday items. My „Animal phrases” series was launched in 2009 in which different compositions of animals introduced fundamental life situations and visions. Parallel to my animal series I continued creating sculptures representing objects or still lifes so that the elements of the two series mingled. I was oriented to capture the concept of still life from different perspectives. Found and crafted objects appearing together, the proportional differences within one composition, the mixture of known perspectives and directions and the experiment with colored versus natural surfaces all played part in discovering the definition of still life.

The majority of my works uses different relationship systems as the basis of the composition. These are studied, experienced and ready sign system that are expected to introduce our relationship to objects, nature and to each other as a constantly changing riddle dependent on mood. We are constantly surrounded with still lifes and objects that are documents and imprints of our era. Many of us get in touch with them by creating and reading them. My goal is to highlight, iterate and complement some texts within this vast document.
