ARTIST STATEMENT

Being a poet and video artist at the same time, I am looking for intersection of these areas, the new ways to create syncretic works, where text and new media couldn't be separated from each other and each do not lead the work.
In contrary, when I work with pure video installations they don't contain any text or speech at all.

BIOGRAPHY

I have a long educational story. First of all I have a degree in applied informatics. While studying I was pretty sure I would become a computer scientist and every year attended summer schools in this field such as Microsoft Research School on Algorithms 2011. Then in 2007 I discovered contemporary art. At the beginning it was just a hobby, but now I’d rather consider myself an artist and computer science has become a hobby or an instrument for creating some art projects. Mostly I am interested in video, poetry, mediapoetry and media art.

Since 2008 I attended several art schools and courses but none of them gives a degree or equivalent. In Russia educational venues that are entitled to grant degrees in art are very conservative and practically don’t cover any kind of art besides traditional painting, sculpture etc.
