ARTIST STATEMENT

In my installations i often work with site-specific subject matter which blurs the borders of fiction and reality in relation to the sites history or contemporary state. Through this i aim to create new narrative experiences and interpretations in these places.
I am also interested in the sampling of art historical elements, techniques and styles and how this can be put into new context in contemporary art. I also like to explore how this type of sampling is linked to visual streams connected to musical genre crossings between noise, ambient, dark folk, shoegaze and psychedelia.

BIOGRAPHY

From 2003 - 2011 I was mainly based in Prague, where i finished my studies at the academy of fine art in 2009.  In 2006 -2007 me and some friends ran an independent artspace for one year in the former offices of Umelec magazine in Borivojova 49 and i also co-curated an exhibition with Norwegian artists (the great fall) at NOD gallery. from 2007 - 2009 I worked extensively in collaboration with AM180 gallery, curating exhibitions, managing poster designs for concerts, concept development and name for the music festival Creepy Teepee. In my personal work in this time i worked extensively with installation projects in a range of artist run galleries and other institutions in the Czech Republic in collaboration with french artist and filmmaker Michael Gimenez. In 2012 i moved back to Norway where i got the chance to organize the exhibition Twilight Zone at Dortmund Bodega in Oslo featuring 3 invited artists connected to AM180 gallery in Prague. Through this collaboration i also curated norwegian musicians for Creepy Teepee festival the following year. In 2013 i moved to Paris for a 6 months stay at Cíte international des arts and after to La Fragua Artist residency in Spain. Through these residencies i have become increasingly involved in international cultural exchange alongside my own artistic production, most recently in Spain where i have co-founded CoMbO and independent platform for contemporary art in collaboration with La Fragua Artist residency.
