ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m interested in connectedness. How an artwork can form a fulcrum for human interaction. How might it bring people together in some shared construction of ‘meaning’?

I’m drawn to equality. The work seems to coalesce around divisions, hierarchies, status and power, often working site-specifically to challenge the embedded politics of space.

I consider my more recent works as stages for ‘anti-performance’: constructed frameworks for the collaborative making of ‘meaning’ that might linger long after the ephemeral, physical framework has gone. Through this ‘anti-perfoming’, I’m interested in how the roles of viewer, participant and author might slip and shift around one another.
