This project involved the construction of a series of capriccio-inspired landscape works that make tangential references to the ancient topographical features associated with the county of Meath. While encompassing some of the more identifiable characteristics of this landscape, I introduced a set of anachronistic elements that served to both counteract and reinforce the traditional approach to documenting a sense of place. These elements take the form of features drawn from architectural archives, Dutch golden-age landscapes as well as over-painted abstract designs. My intention was to encourage the viewer to create their own versions of familiar landscapes beyond the pressure of received ideas.
