    Loops of Relation | 2013

du Preez/ Gui’ is a collaborative duo consisting of Nelmarie du Preez (b. 1985, South Africa) and Gui (b. 1984, USA). They have been living and working together for the past fifteen years in various capacities. For the past year they have been exploring the mediums of performance and technology. In these works Du Preez/Gui aim to question the mapping of relation, by means of interactivity. Taking inspiration from the works of performance artist Marina Abramovic and Ulay, du Preez/Gui use their ‘bodies’ to explore the parameters that drive the dynamics of a symbiotic relationship. The first in this series brings together documented performance exercises presented in endless loops. These loops of relation are driven by their relationship and aim to generate new meaning with regards to the social constructions of ‘the self’ and ‘the other’.
