I DRAW THE MATERIAL FOR THESE PICTURES FROM THE INTERNET. IT IS SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY ITS TECHNIQUE, AS IT OCCUPIES A TERRITORY BETWEEN PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL PRINT. THE CHIEF QUARRY FOR THE SERIES SUZUKA AND FRIENDS IS THE INTERNET CATALOGUES FOR JAPANESE “REAL DOLLS” THOSE LIFESIZE, REALISTIC MANNEQUINS WITH MOVEABLE LIMBS. I INSERT THESE CHARACTERS INTO MY OWN AND OTHERS’ FAMILY SNAPSHOTS. THE ARTIFICIAL EMOTION PAINTED ON THE FACES OF THE DOLLS, INTENDED ORIGINALLY FOR SEXUAL PURPOSES, GAINS A DIFFERENT, “REAL” MEANING IN THESE NEW CONTEXTS. Suzuka’s letter: 家や仕事場、そして遊びに行ったときに、写真を撮ったのですが、私と私の友達は、本当によく笑いました。でも、その中にも真面目で厳粛な瞬間もあったんです。他の人にもこの写真が気に入るといいなと思っています。最後にこの展覧会を企画してくれたスッルーシ　ギーザ君に感謝を述べたいと思います。 スズカ “Big honour for me I may exhibit my photo album here in this beautiful place. My friends and me we had so much laugh when we have done these pictures at home, in our school and wherever we had fun we were going. But there were serious, festive moments as well. I hope it others will like these pictures. I knew this as soon as I put her head out from the box and she raised her look at me.
