  • Currently in Jihlava, Czech Republic.
  • I am primarily a painter but my work in the present time is closely related to work in space. An object can work for me as model for painting but also as an artefact in itself or as a component of installation.

    Hanka a Linda | 2016

The exhibition and the series of paintings called Hanka and Linda is in principle a site specific project for Vyšehrad Art Gallery in Prague. Initial themes of the paintings are statues located in the close proximity of the gallery. These statues were created on the basis of the Manuscripts of Dvůr Králové and Zelená Hora, whose authenticity is still questioned. Their purpose was to affirm the ancient origin of the Czech nation. I took on personal interpretation, transferred the statues into the painting medium and keeping only the original composition. The name of the exhibition reflects the surnames of the possible authors of the manuscripts which evoke female names. I don't try to deal with the question of authenticity in this project. I am using mystification by presenting the possible authors as females and reinterpreting the heroic statues in inferior materials. This is my reaction to history manipulation in favor of recent political tendencies, media mystification and the always reappearing nationalistic thinking.
