Site-specific installation for Altán Klamovka is titled between, and develops from the premises that I have systematically pursued in both his work as a theorist and a working artist. I explore the friction between two approaches - the Romantic and the Modernist. In this installation I had re-casted Neo-Gothic architecture using minimal interventions. Just as Neo-Gothic architecture referenced Gothic architecture from a distance of several centuries, I reiterate the devices of Modernism after almost a century has elapsed. The combination of existing architecture with spatial and lighting inverventions spawns new meanings whose interpretation is up to the viewer. By entering the inner space of the gallery, the viewer becomes part of the geometric “image”; another important feature is the developing contrast between the geometric forms of the installation and the decorative ornament of the external facade of Altán Klamovka.
