    A Holy One | 2016

Many find faith at the same time absurd and an ultimate reassurance, or a delusion, a truth, a need, or on the contrary, a courage. The holy one, is one convinced, he does not have a question. The creature is holding in its hand a mass of undegradable, permanent plastic, an abstraction literally and symbolically, and a dark, colorless one at that. The surroundings of this holy one are pregnant with thick paint, bright color and light, but he chooses to neglect them in favor of his cherished black permanence. The holes in the Holy One’s head are evidence of the wear and tear he had endured, which prompts my compassion on the one hand, a respect for his commitment on the other, a disdain for his ignorance and self-deceit on the third, and an envy of his comfort.
