Whatever Michael says is true | 2015

This video offers a twist of the gender roles in the original plot of an iconic movie from the 70-ies (“Miami Vice”, with Pam Grier). I appropriated and re-edited part of the movie in a way that shows the female protagonist as the stronger super hero, in opposite to the original movie where she actually gets rescued by the male superhero. The end statement “Whatever Michael Says is True...”, (taken from a google search about true), brings back the “male” stereotype, leaving open questions about the way we create cultural and gender conventions through movies and the use of language.
