Vienna / AT / I am Another World / Xhibit Gallery - Academy of Fine Arts Vienna / 2014 / Curated by Georgia Holz and Claudia Slanar / When we first began talking about the spatial concept for I Am Another World our conversations revolved around creating a “pseudonymic space” and how, if at all that could be materialized. Railing structures - placed throughout the four galleries - hold readings selected by the curators while literalizing the amount of wall space that was perceived as unusable in plan view. The sculptures’ lengths are the sum of the window voids pulled into the rooms they occupy and it is the hope that each performance re-names them, changing with each approach. While the structures organize views of the exhibition and reading materials they also attempt to choreograph the act of viewing itself.
