  • Electricity floats around us in the wireless networks. The Nothing Machine catches a signal out of the air with their antenna and with this signal it creates power to convert this same signal into sound. Making something out of nothing.

    Ode to Nothing | 2013

When you turn on the radio, you hear sound. When you turn on the television, you see images. When you email, the message is sent to the other side of the planet in a millisecond. This is something remarkable. All these devices create clear pictures, sound or information out of signals invisible for our eyes. These networks and signals are everywhere around us and they take good care of us. This Nothing is like a blanket who comforts us and makes sure that everything we want to do works. So Nothing, thanks for Everything. To make this ode to the Nothing Mats created three Nothing Machines inspired on the forgotten crystal radio. The Nothing Machine catches a signal with its antenna and with this signal it creates its own electricity to convert this signal into sound. These machines make from absolutely Nothing something. Showing you the magic that is all around us.
