The main question derives from a very basic idea that probably turns in the mind of every painter: what else can painting be in the 21st century and what possible forms of attitude can it show to other artistic media? With the installation of the exhibition „Laguna” I would like to emphasise my way of thinking about painting, that can be called quite romantic. The installation is an extreme projection of my relationship to painting, a kind of allegory. It is the debate about the exhaustion of painting that really positions my work: it’s main element is the painting as a pearl – have I mentioned my romanticism? – while the shell, as the protective armour around it, can be understood as the contemporary medium. Will a painting be less contemporary if it is not in an installational enviroment that distracts and draws attention at the same time?
