THE ART OF ANTHROPOCENE _____________________________________________________________________ The three-part series for Artyčok.TV entitled The Art of Anthropocene follows contemporary discussions that are devoted to the changing conditions of artistic production in times of climatic disruption. The videos are based on interviews with theoreticians, philosophers, cultural workers, artists and activists who have long been involved in environmental and climate issues, whether in connection with their artistic or institutional practice. It’s obvious that the issue of the environment and ecology in art is increasingly becoming a consciously political decision that affects what art we create, how we teach it, how we talk about it, or how we present it. Artwork is intertwined with cultural activity, which is linked to activism and vice versa. The context, material used and financial resources are increasingly accentuated. _____________________________________________________________________ https://artycok.tv/en/43396/umeni-antropocenu _____________________________________________________________________ The Last Day of Creation ________________________________________________________________ The Last Day of Creation is the title of a video which is being made in collaboration with Anna Remešová (art historian). The title is derived from the short film První den stvoření (The First Day of Creation, 1978) which was made by the Central Department for Propaganda and Documentary Film of the Czechoslovak Television. It features the legendary expert on the restoration of post-mining landscapes – Mr. Stanislav Štýs. The prepared video polemicizes with Štýs’ techno-optimism and asks about other possible forms of geo-engineering. Through the fictitious character of a female restorationist who has been living for 200 years, we invite the audience to make value judgments on caretaking in a post-mining landscape in the region of Ústí nad Labem. The story follows the abrupt changes in the landscape, the outcomes of the mining projects, and speculatively moves into the year 2050 when most of the mines are supposed to have been transformed into recreational lakes. Things come up which however indicate that not everyone agrees with such a form of restoration and that not everything can be planned out without there being collateral damage to account for. https://artycok.tv/44256/posledni-den-stvoreni ________________________________________________________________
