The name of my diploma work Me, Myself and I derives from pop culture, specifically from an empowerment song from the American singer Beyonce from 2009 which is about dealing with a philandering partner and learning from the consequences and and it’s ultimately about taking care of yourself and indulging yourself, whether that be emotionally or physically. My practical part of the thesis concentrates on everyday situations in form of short videos. The overall impression of the installation should sound like the interconnection of everyday situations in everyday life versus the actual presentation on social media. The passage of time should allow the viewer to find the space for contemplation and to realize the present moment with its own existence. The questions of the emptiness and shallowness of interpersonal relationships in the global world are faced with a willingly shared personal life with strangers on the Internet. Hastags encouraging women to show their "true" face on social networks is in contrast to the passive acceptance of the socially imposed roles of a woman in her various stages of life.
