About the Open Call

The call for the Works.io Residency hosted by AQB is open to visual artists from around the world and applies to a stay of 1 month in the facilities of Art Quarter Budapest. 

The Works.io Residency covers traveling costs (max. 800 USD) as well as the studio rental fee for the selected artist. Also included in the residency program is an option for exhibition in the AQB exhibition space (depending on the artist's production), a written art review by a local art professional and a Works.io Pro Account.

The residency will take place during spring 2015, based on the selected artist's availability.


AQB provides the selected artist with:

  • Shared studio space (up to four artists) 
  • Private room with shared bathroom and kitchen
  • Involvement in the local art network (Opening visits, studio visit by curators, etc.)

Application Requirements

  • Artist info (Name, place of birth, current location, contact details)
  • Current portfolio (comprehensive selection of artworks with infos)
  • Artist CV (Biography and educational info, list of exhibitions, awards, etc.)
  • Artist statement (max. 500 characters)

Important:
Once applied, you may add changes to your portfolio until the deadline - the changes will automatically update.

Selection Criteria

  • The selection is based on your submitted portfolio, consisting of artworks, CV and a artist statement.
  • Please note that only completed portfolios will be reviewed by the jury. 

Timeline

  • Participants will be informed about the results of the selection on January 12th 2015.
  • The selected candidate will be sent further information on how to proceed, the details of their stay, and financial conditions.
  • The residency will take place during spring 2015, based on the selected artist's availability.
