Accidentally

ART+TEXT BUDAPEST, BUDAPEST (HU)

Ákos Ezer graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2014. His unmistakable, energetic, colourful and grotesque paintings have been exhibited in various places such as the Tanja Pol Galerie in Munich or Beers London in the framework of an international group show introducing young talents to the public. In the spring of 2017, Art+Text Budapest presents the solo exhibition of Ákos Ezer.

The solo exhibition Accidentally presents a selection artworks from the past two years. In the different sized – from 25 centimeters to 2,5 meters wide – pictures’ center is the fallen man. In Ezer’s consistent painting universe drop is not a tragic and mythical Icarus falling but a burlesque-like, entertaining and grotesque misstep. His heroes are everyday figures, burly guys and lanky men who fall in a way that their twisted limbs arrange into a dynamic composition filling out the rectangle shaped surface of the canvas. They wear shorts and flip-flops, spotty or striped T-shirt, and they are surrounded by weekend houses, DIY shed and other equipment. Akos Ezer immerses in the world of nostalgic childhood vacations on the lakeside building an autonomous pictorial space from blob-effect-like abstract surfaces. The background’s base is striped or gradient which filled with the expressively formed grotesque human figures. Ezer surrealistic childhood universe related to Leipzig School’s personal mythological narrative manner, impressively energetic brushwork, clean, often his colors printed directly on the canvas reminiscent of the new painting unbridled energy flow.
