The exhibition of finalists of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award introduces annually five exceptional contemporary artists. This year the five finalists who work in a broad range of media and themes have prepared magnanimous new projects which fearlessly go beyond the boundaries of mere “competing for a prize” and the institutional space in which the presentation takes place. It gives the spectators an opportunity to think about the precarized society, ageing and dangerously expanding civilization and its responsibility for the future view of the present day, about the invisible but measurable information surrounding us and carrying remarkable memory, or about inner visions, regrouping reality into recognizable yet imaginary wholes. At the same time it invites a dialogue over the potential of contemporary art to meaningfully touch on the contexts beyond gallery walls.
