Signs of Life

Bank of Collective Memory

PIEROGI, BOILER ROOM GALLERY, BROOKLYN (US)

Pratt Institute’s Department of Fine Arts will present an exhibition of selected works in a variety of media by second-year M.F.A. degree candidates. The exhibition, titled Signs of Life: in and out of time and place, was curated by Sara Reisman, an independent curator and artistic director of the Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation. Reisman curated the show based on the perspectives of Pratt artists from more than a dozen countries, locating two common threads of experience in their work: a desire for movement that confronts a profound sense of place and related attempts to capture time. Works on display will address notions of home, self, and community through both social engagement and traditional and more experimental media.
