Title to the exhibition has become a modified color perception test name - «Color vision test». In this color-blindness test special polychromatic charts with numerous color circles and dots which are equal in brightness but differ in color used. Color-blind person who does not distinguish colors will see such picture as an abstraction and the person with normal vision with find out some figurative image (figures or geometrical forms). This project offer, probably, directly opposite test. «Abstract Vision Test» - is a check of artists on ability to find an abstraction in a specific subject environment.
Abstraction is the dematerialization of reality, silent world of esthetic which is indifferent to any specifics. This the searching of a pure form. This is the refusal from any saying. But on this exhibition the informational silence, which is provided by the abstraction, is broken. Every art work is balancing between the real and abstract, it has the features of imaginative and imageless at the same time. Artists offer us a double game - the viewer can see the prototype, image and their connection as a personal author's game.
On the work of Mykyta Kadan, the architecture of city square, from above, is transformed into geometric forms. Minimalistic forest of Maksim Mamsikov looks like a dark line between white winter sky and snow covered ground. Maria Gonchar riches the effect of Op Art using the Ukrainian ornament motives. Valeria Trubina transforms roadside trees into bizarre lace, because she draw it in the way it is seen from the car while fast driving. "Chair for the God" be Illya Chichkan is the cross painted in the main colors of Mondrian and it looks like a geometrical composition.
Works where the image exists on the verge of abstract&real we could find in lots of artists and not necessarily abstractionists. It's the result of searching of new forms, an experiment with art language but not the philosophy as for abstractionists at the beginning of the past century, which thought that flatness and objectless of image is the true realistic art and everything else is deceit.
Modern-abstractionists invented difficult techniques to avoid ability for viewer to catch some figurative image, to not be guilty for something looked like a cloud, face, etc. The thing was accused as a disadvantage is the main theme of this exhibition. The game into the object-non object looks different after all those artistic movements of XX century, but not less interesting.
Authors are interested in connection of different styles and methods within the same canvas. Such coexistence is not a conflict but probably a synthesis of cultural codes, rising new dynamic in the result. Reaction of incompatible methods interaction at the first sight seems to create new hybrid product. This dialogic game leads to the appearance of thin vibrations on the level of sense. This is the essence of the project.
