The goal of the Chimera Art Award is to raise international visibility for fine artists (under 40). The award supports contemporary art that contributes to a better understanding of our time. The juried selection is based on artists' portfolios.
The award was created by Chimera-Project, with sponsorship from Works.io. Chimera-Project is a program gallery in Budapest with an international orientation. The gallery program is built on curated, thematic exhibitions, that provide space for meaningful discourse in contemporary art.

Submit your portfolios online until June 25th (23:59 GMT), 2014.
Announcement of shortlisted finalists: the top 15 artists will be announced.
Public Choice Award: during this period people will have a chance to vote for an artist from among the shortlisted finalists.
The winners of the Chimera Art Award 2014 and the Public Choice Award will be announced.
Duration of the solo exhibition at Chimera-Project in Budapest, Hungary.
Eligibility
The application is open for fine artists under the age of 40. There are no restrictions in terms of media, production year, size, etc.
Portfolio requirements
Each application will be judged based on the professional portfolio. The portfolio must include: selection of artworks; artist statement, and a comprehensive CV.
Applications will be only accepted via the Works.io platform by creating a Works.io online artist portfolio. Please note that after creating your portfolio, you explicitly have to apply to the Chimera-Award on your Works.io dashboard.
Only complete portfolios (containing selected artworks, cv and artist statement) get reviewed by the jury. Please note that the artist statement can be max. 600 characters and the number of artworks using the free version are limited to 20 works.
Entry adjustments
Once applied, you may add changes to your portfolio until the deadline. During the review time (June 26th - July 14th) you cannot make changes to your portfolio.
Use of entry content
Artists selected for the shortlist (top 15) agree that the organizers promote their portfolio (including images of all artworks) via their media channels.
Exhibition curation
The winner’s solo exhibition will be curated by Chimera-Project in close collaboration with the artist.
Use of exhibition funding
The 1000 USD exhibition budget covers exhibition costs (transport, production, travel and accommodation). The funding is given only if there is an exhibition. Otherwise, the winner is free to decide upon the use of the exhibition budget which is in line with the exhibition concept. Any remaining funds go to the artist after the exhibition.
Artist presence
Please save the indicated date of the exhibition. The gallery encourages the winner to be present for installation and exhibition opening, if possible. Any further organizational details will be arranged between the winner and the gallery.
Prize condition
In case the winner is not able to exhibit, the award (including the solo exhibition, the 1000 USD exhibition budget) will go to the second shortlisted artist.
Changes
The organizer of the award is Chimera-Project and Works.io. The organizers retain the right for changes with written notification to the applicants.
