CALL FOR YOUNG CURATORS

NMAG is calling young curators to take over Amsterdam exhibition space

No Man's Art Gallery is calling for young art curators to take over an external exhibition space in Amsterdam.
Selected curators will be provided an exhibition space free of charge. Depending on any awarded subsidies, there will be a small honorarium available for both the curator and their participating artists.

Curators can submit a proposal for an exhibition in a 30m2 space. The show must include at least two artists. 2d works are preferred, 3d works will have limitations.

Twelve curators may be selected. Each curator will have the space at their disposal for an entire month. Curators will be mentored by No Man's Art Gallery (help with installing, PR, pricing, artist management, client management, etc.)

Application Requirements

To be eligible for this opportunity, you have to show us your proposal for an exhibition. The proposal needs to include at least two artists. Your proposal may include an explanation of why you are putting the artists together, what pieces you are thinking of presenting, if there is a particular question you are researching in your exhibition, whether the exhibition refers to other works, etc. Your final exhibition may differ from your proposal (with approval).

Please create a curators profile on works.io and include your previous projects. It's not a problem if you don't have any yet. You may also apply with an artist profile.

We are looking for young curators. We don't mean that you need to have a certain age, merely that you are early in your career. Our aim is to create a playground for young curators to gain experience in composing an exhibition.

Please note that although we are not specifically looking for Dutch curators, there will be no available budget for any travel, accommodation or transport expenses.

Selection Criteria

Your proposal will be judged on whether it is clear, coherent, thought through, original and interesting.
Judges are Emmelie Koster, Joery de Winter and Lih-Lan Wong, all working at No Man's Art Gallery in curatorial positions.

Timeline

The space will be available from september 2015 onwards, for an entire year. Every month the exhibition will change and another curator will take over. Please include your availability for the months of September, October and November 2015 in the proposal, as it will help us decide who gets the kick off.
The exhibition space is located in Amsterdam.
The space has one high white wall, about 6m wide, 6m high.
There are opportunities to create more wall space in the 30m2 space, and there are glass walls that may also be used.

Every curated exhibition will have an official and festive opening, to which you may invite your network, and we will invite ours.
